This 1,100sqm medical teaching facility incorporates a central lecture theatre, student tutorial rooms, medical research laboratories, computer laboratory & consulting room.
Separate staff & administration areas and boardroom feature joinery and furniture were made from locally milled Blackbutt timber. The building is equipped with state-of-the-art computer programmed audio-visual & video conferencing facilities, theatre lighting, security & BMS services. Sustainability features include rainwater harvesting, stormwater detention, a solar hot water system, special air conditioning controls, extensive use of natural light and passive solar design with external sun-shading devices.
The design included a single-storey structural steel framed building over suspended concrete slab design with Symonite external metal cladding and split face blockwork.
