Testimonial

“Since starting my career with A W Edwards as a Cadet, I have been presented with amazing career opportunities and have been fortunate enough to work with extremely knowledgeable and inspirational people who have supported me and helped me gain the knowledge and confidence I now have. I feel extremely valued within the organisation and feel that A W Edwards has invested a lot of energy into promoting gender diversity and providing equal opportunities.”

Fatima Saleh

Assistant Project Manager

"I began my journey with A W Edwards at the age of 16 as a trainee on the Crows Nest Station project, with no prior knowledge of the construction industry. Since then, I have progressed to the role of cadet and am now entering my third year of working and studying Construction Management at Western Sydney University. My experience with A W Edwards has been nothing short of extraordinary. The company's commitment to excellence, innovation, and integrity has been evident in every project. I have had the privilege of working on some of the company's most significant projects, guided by many amazing mentors and leaders who have greatly contributed to my professional development. I am currently working on the fitout of a Data Centre, a fast-paced project where I get to embrace new challenges and gain construction experience daily. I am looking forward to many more years with A W Edwards, a company that truly values its people and their growth."

Declan Mason

Second Year Cadet

Before starting my journey in construction, I was torn between two very different career paths: medical nursing, inspired by my mum who ran a beauty clinic, and the construction industry, where my dad works as a builder and civil engineer. To help me decide, I reached out to Zoe at A W Edwards to learn more about the opportunities for women in construction. After our conversation, I was completely won over by the dynamic and rewarding career prospects in this industry and I haven’t looked back since. I joined AW Edwards in October 2022 as a first-year cadet on the Data Centre project. I am now entering my fourth and final year of my Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) program at Western Sydney University. Being a young woman in construction with immense support, training, and programs around me at A W Edwards is both empowering and rewarding. With the company's commitment to diversity and inclusion, I feel valued and encouraged to pursue my career ambitions.

Kayla Farah

Fourth Year Cadet

"Working at A W Edwards has been an extremely rewarding start to my career. After completing my HSC, I enrolled in a Bachelor of Construction Project Management at UTS, starting in 2021. I chose a career in the construction industry due to its opportunities for career growth and the variety it offers. I applied for a cadetship with A W Edwards and was fortunate enough to be offered the role, beginning my work with the company in February 2022. Working for A W Edwards has given me the opportunity to continue my degree while working in the industry gaining on-the-job experience. My first role was as a cadet on a Data Centre project, where I gained exposure to the fast-paced environment of construction whilst learning essential skills such as onsite trade coordination, reading and understanding construction drawings, effective teamwork, and safety protocols just to name a few. I have recently completed my 4 year degree and have now been with A W Edwards for almost 3 years and was honoured to receive the CEO’s AWEsome Junior award this year. A W Edwards is a fantastic company to work for and has given me the chance to grow professionally and work and learn from great teams and supportive leaders, I am excited to continue to grow my career at A W Edwards."

Zachary Liddle

Fourth Year Cadet

"A W Edwards has been nothing short of inspiring. When I set my sights on pursuing my career, AWE stood out as a company deeply involved in shaping future coordinators and project managers, and it has lived up to that reputation. Over the past eight months, I have developed skills and gained experiences I never expected. The team on my project has always been willing to help, regardless of the question or issue. By showing my passion, they have trusted me with my own set of tasks, which has pushed me even further. They treat me as one of the team, even with my limited experience. Gaining knowledge about the construction elements of various trades has been an invaluable experience. This hands-on learning complemented my university studies, allowing me to integrate practical skills with academic knowledge. I will always cherish the start of my career with AWE and am grateful for all the programs and training incorporated into our work, which have allowed me to improve my personal attributes. One piece of advice I would give to anyone entering this field is to never be afraid. We all start somewhere, and everyone is here to help."
