- Project description
This project involved the construction of a six and a half storey car park for over 670 cars and motorcycles at Nepean Hospital. The hospital campus is in the process of substantial redevelopment, the car park expansion complimenting existing medical facilities by providing additional car parking facilities, reducing the demand for on-street parking.
The car park features a striking green façade inspired by the colours of the eucalypt trees which are prominent within the hospital campus. The façade comprises a series of powder coated aluminum vertical louvre blades fixed to the building structure at varying angles. The blades help reduce the entry of radiant heat and glare into the building and break down the overall scale of the car park.
The main car park structure is formed using a pre-stressed concrete system which facilitates exceptionally large spans. This approach minimizes the number of columns required, making the interior transparent and open.
This project compliments A W Edwards existing car park portfolio. The company has constructed many high quality at-grade and multi-storey car parks for several clients, particularly in the last five years.
