The Civic Focus Building is a free-standing new building containing:
- New Council Chambers, associated public viewing gallery and press room
- Public Atrium for civic receptions, displays and public functions
- Mayor's offices, lounge and office for personal assistant
- Councillors’ offices (14 Councillors) with offices for personal assistants
- Meeting rooms
The honed concrete surface uses white sand depicting the colour of the beaches from the Gold Coast and runs into the Public Atrium.
